Citrine is the yellow member of the quartz family and is prized
for its golden to lemon yellow hues. Its coloring is due to ferric
iron. Unfortunately it has also been commonly called Citrine Topaz
, which is a misnomer as Topaz is a completely separate gem species
from Citrine. Its name is from the old French citrin meaning yellow.
